Question :
Present average age of A, B and C is 22 years. Three years ago, Average age of B and C is 18 years, then find A’s age 9 years hence?
(a) 24 years
(b) 27 years
(c) 30 years
(d) 33 years
(e) 36 years
Solution :
Sum of present ages = A+B+C = 22
3
A+B+C = 66
3 years ago sum of age of B and C
(B+C) + (C-3) = 18
2
B+C- 6 = 18
2
B+C-6 = 36
B+C = 42
Present age of A
A+B+C = 66
A+42 = 66
A = 66-42
A = 24
A's age 9 years hence
= 24 + 9
= 33 years
