What is 'Self4Society' which is launched by Government of India as a part of mygov.in?

Government of India (Electronics and Information Technology workforce) has launched a platform known as 'Self4Society' as a part of mygov.in portal at 24 October 2018. This platform will help to create better synergies among so many initiatives and it will lead to a much better outcome of the efforts of professionals. Self4Society makes Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) more collaborative and meaningful. Young individuals can also come together and do something for society. The idea of Self4Society is originated from discussion of PM narendra modi with IT professionals of india. Government is trying to solve societal issues such as woman & child empowerment, swatchh bharat, digital literacy, etc. Government is also providing many schemes for women and child empowerment. Municipal corporations of all cities are focusing on cleaning of cities. So government bodies are trying to do social works for society from their side but it is not enough to bring societal change. So government needs support of people. We should help government to implement various schemes so that faster growth can be achieved. 

So at the launching event of Self4Society, PM modi said,

"To take the country ahead, we need participation of all 125 crore Indians."

He said, 

"It is important to create an india where everyone has equal opportunities."

 

He added that government is putting lot of efforts and money for social causes but everyone needs to contribute to bring societal change.

What is the need of Self4Society? 

Companies/businesses have certain roles to perform for society. Companies have to involve society in their growth. To involve society in their growth, companies generally perform social works to solve issues of society but it happens that only few people knows about this activities done by companies. So a platform is required by which companies can showcase their social works to nation. Hence government of india (Electronics and Information Technology workforce) has launched a platform known as 'Self4Society' as a part of mygov.in portal. This improves public relations of company and it leads to financial benefits to company. These social works are Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of company.

In this time of COVID-19 pandemic, goal of Self4Society is to help people to fight against corona virus. When corona virus entered in India, many companies decided to help country in this time of pandemic. Nation need support volunteers to fight against such crisis. 

From all above points, Self4Society is beneficial for people, companies and government. So more and more companies should utilize this platform. Individuals who want to do something for society should join Self4Society as a volunteer and help companies in their initiatives. So more and more people will involve in journey of growth and societal change. 

Impact on society 

Companies can organize number of initiatives based on following national causes :

Currently main focus of this platform is towards COVID-19 virus. Government is trying to minimize spread of virus by taking number of initiatives. Hospital are trying for fast recovery of patients of COVID-19. Many organizations are in support with government. Some companies developed ventilators and donated it free of cost to nation. Some companies donated masks and sanitizers to country. 

Due to this initiatives people have huge benefits and this benefits will increase in upcoming time when companies create more initiatives. 

On other hand, many companies and volunteers tought basic communication skills and english language to school students and they will continue their work after corona crisis. So many school students are taking benefits of Self4Society. Many companies with their employees and volunteers are taking crucial initiatives such as paper bag making, organic farming, teaching students, Cleaning of campus, streets, etc. These initiatives provide lot of benefits to people. So societal impact of Self4Society is very beneficial.

Another benefit of this platform is enhancement of use of technology. Technology can make our task easier and faster. So for initiatives such as Swatchh Bharat, it is better to use technology for cleaning purposes. Technical companies bring latest technologies for initiatives. So people will become aware about such technologies. At launching event, union minister for electronics and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad appealed to the industries to bring their technology edge to this space and he said, 

"Our endeavour should be to help the last man in the queue" 

Besides the benefits to people, we have to keep in mind following matters. Suppose company organize seminars for use of BHIM app for digital transactions under national cause 'Furthering Digital Literacy' and people attend it to learn use of this app then in some cases it happens that only negligible number of people start use of digital transactions. Sometimes it happens that only few individuals attend this type of seminars. In swatchh bharat initiatives, people are cleaning their streets and surrounding areas for one day but on next day they start throwing garbage anywhere. They don't use dustbins. It happens because people are not understanding objectives of initiatives. In such cases, benefits of initiatives are not utilized by people. 

Society can utilize benefits only when people understand objectives and they will aim to work for society. If all people do this, then there will not be any need to clean cities, no need to focus on woman & child empowerment, etc. If Self4Society get support of people then society will develop and people will come together to bring societal change. It is our responsibility to take benefit of various initiatives and to spread awareness about initiatives.
